Blanket vest made from a reclaimed ‘Gaiety’ Irish wool blanket. A useful extra layer all year round.
The blanket I made this from was a gorgeous blue checkerboard wool, with an amazing label, which I unpicked and reattached to the finished piece.
For the lining, I pieced together parts of a recycled cotton/linen mix men’s shirt with a little asterisk-y star print just like on the Gaiety label, and kept one of the shirt pockets inside (with a replacement button).
This cosy waistcoat is finished off with binding and button loops cut from deadstock brushed cotton, and three found wooden buttons.
